Sub Secretariat established in South Punjab

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman has said that the establishment of Sub Secretariat was the first step towards the South Punjab province, now that it is taken, the province would be created soon too. While speaking to the media in his first interaction with the journalists, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan fulfilled his promise with the people of South Punjab by setting up sub secretariat.

The ACS also said that paperless technology was being introduced in the South Punjab sub secretariat. This would allow them to save the time spent on the movement of files. He also indicated that the government had planned to appoint additional secretaries in this secretariat who were under the secretaries sitting in Lahore. However, this decision was changed and now all empowered secretariat would be appointed.

Speaking about the work hierarchy, he said that initially more important and public related departments were being shifted to the secretariat while all provincial departments would be moved to South Punjab in phases afterward. These departments include education, health, planning, irrigation, development, finance, communication, and work.

When asked about his work schedule, he said that he would sit in Bahawalpur and Multan two days a week each and at least one day in Dera Ghazi Khan. South Punjab has been allocated a budget of 33 percent of the budget of Punjab that would help in expediting the development work in the region.

He also said that the development projects for South Punjab would be prepared by the local P&D Department and approved locally by the finance department. This would eradicate the need to send files to Lahore for approval. He said that there would be one secretary for School and Higher Education departments.

جنوبی پنجاب میں سب سیکرٹریٹ کا قیام

ملتان: پنجاب گورنمنٹ کی جانب سے جنوبی پنجاب میں سب سیکرٹریٹ کا قیام عمل میں لایا گیا ہے جو کے نئے صوبے کی جانب واضح اشارہ ہے.

ایڈیشنل چیف سیکرٹری جنوبی پنجاب زاہد اختر زمان کا کہنا تھا کہ چونکہ سب سیکرٹریٹ کا قیام عمل میں لایا جا چکا ہے، اب نئے صوبے کا قیام بھی جلد عمل میں آجائے گا.

میڈیا نمائندوں سے بات چیت کے دوران ان کا کہنا تھا کہ وزیراعظم عمران خان نے جنوبی پنجاب کے لوگوں سے سب سیکرٹریٹ کا وعدہ پورا کردیا اور جلد ہی نیا صوبہ بھی تشکیل دیا جائے گا.

اے سی ایس کا یہ بھی کہنا تھا کہ جنوبی پنجاب سب سیکرٹریٹ میں پیپر لیس ٹیکنالوجی کو متعارف کرایا جائے گا تاکہ فائلوں کے تبادلے میں لگنے والا وقت بچایا جاسکے.

میڈیا نمائندوں کے گفتگو کے دوران انہوں نے بتایا کہ شروعات میں، پنجاب گورنمنٹ کا ارادہ تھا کہ سب سیکرٹریٹ میں ایڈیشنل سیکرٹری یعینات کیے جائیں جو کہ لاہور کے سیکرٹری کے ماتحت کام کریں گے. تاہم یہ فیصلہ تبدیل کردیا گیا اور فیصلہ ہوا کہ مکمل طور پر خود مختار سیکرٹری تعینات کیے جائیں گے.
