Pilot project launched to recycle trash into fertilizer

According to the news sources, 21 tons of fertilizer will be produced with the initiation of the Hariyali Hub project. While talking to the media the board’s managing director said university students would also benefit from the project, whose launching ceremony was chaired by Channa and Tearfund’s Martin Leach.

According to the details shared by the board, plastic in the rubbish will be separated and recycled. For this purpose, the UK-based agency will start the Haryali Hub project. The SSWMB and Tearfund have selected a few union councils of the Malir and Keamari districts for testing, with plans to later replicate the recycling program in other UCs as well. Another purpose of the project is to spread awareness among the public.

The total area of trenches dug for the project is 10,550 square feet, having the capacity to hold at least 80 tons of garbage. The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board will collect dry and wet garbage separately from the UCs and deliver it to the agency at the Baldia GTS. For this purpose, the board has run campaigns in specific is to make sure that inhabitants learn how to separate dry and wet garbage before disposing it to the board.

The wet garbage will be kept in trenches and once it is dried and converted into fertilizer, it would be sold. The entire process, according to the board, is of 40 days.

While talking to the media, Channa said that after the success of this project, it would be spread to all districts of Karachi, Hyderabad, and even in Larkana. With the recycling of garbage, he said, not only would the environment be made clean but it would be made sure that garbage was brought under use again.

بورڈ کی جانب سے شیئر کی گئی تفصیلات کے مطابق کوڑے میں موجود پلاسٹک کو الگ کرکے ری سائیکل کیا جائے گا۔ اس مقصد کے لیے برطانیہ میں قائم ایجنسی ہریالی حب پراجیکٹ شروع کرے گی۔ (ایس ایس ڈبلیو ایم بی) اور (ٹیئرفنڈ) نے جانچ کے لیے ملیر اور کیماڑی اضلاع کی چند یونین کونسلوں کا انتخاب کیا ہے، بعد میں دیگر (یو سی ایس) میں بھی ری سائیکلنگ پروگرام کو نقل کرنے کا منصوبہ ہے۔ اس منصوبے کا ایک اور مقصد عوام میں آگاہی پھیلانا ہے۔
منصوبے کے لیے کھودی جانے والی خندقوں کا کل رقبہ 10,550 مربع فٹ ہے، جس میں کم از کم 80 ٹن کچرا اٹھانے کی گنجائش ہے۔ سندھ سالڈ ویسٹ مینجمنٹ بورڈ یو سیز سے خشک اور گیلا کچرا الگ الگ جمع کرے گا اور بلدیہ جی ٹی ایس میں ایجنسی کو فراہم کرے گا۔ اس مقصد کے لیے، بورڈ نے مخصوص (یو سی ایس) میں مہم چلائی ہے تاکہ اس بات کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے کہ باشندے سوکھے اور گیلے کچرے کو بورڈ میں ٹھکانے لگانے سے پہلے الگ کرنے کا طریقہ سیکھیں۔
گیلے کچرے کو خندقوں میں رکھا جائے گا اور جب اسے خشک کرکے کھاد میں تبدیل کیا جائے گا تو اسے فروخت کیا جائے گا۔ بورڈ کے مطابق پورا عمل 40 دن کا ہے۔
میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے چنا نے کہا کہ اس منصوبے کی کامیابی کے بعد اسے کراچی، حیدرآباد اور لاڑکانہ کے تمام اضلاع تک پھیلا دیا جائے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کچرے کی ری سائیکلنگ سے نہ صرف ماحول کو صاف ستھرا بنایا جائے گا بلکہ اس بات کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا کہ کچرے کو دوبارہ استعمال میں لایا جائے۔
