Multan: The Multan Development Authority (MDA) has decided to lease 292 of its plots and auction commercial land to generate revenue and protect the land from encroachments as well.
The decision has been made by the authority to protect the land from encroachers, according to the news sources. It is also known from a source that a number of these plots had been purchased for public projects and welfare schemes; however, they remained unutilized. Because of a lack of care, they were occupied by influential individuals. The plots occupied illegally by influential people include highly valuable commercial plots in Gulshan Market and Gulgasht Colony.
In the first phase, the MDA is going to auction a 2-Kanal land located on the Northern Bypass. At the same time, some 292 plots will be leased.
MDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Ali Abbas said that encroachers are making huge amounts of money after leasing out MDA-owned plots illegally. The decision has been made to take back the inventory of plots and redirect the funds to the national treasure.
