Govt. to open Attock Fort for tourists

Syed Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Tourism and Overseas Pakistani visited the Attock Fort along with some officials of World Bank, local administration, and the departments of archaeology and tourism, for finalizing the planning regarding Attock Fort. 

It is been decided that the improvement in infrastructure will be brought in six different tourist spots of the province, including Attock Fort, in this project. 

This historic fort, Attock Fort, is built along the Indus River`s bank but never has been utilized as a tourist spot, although it is an important locality for strategic purposes. While for the first time, now Attock Fort will be open to the public. 

As per Mr. Bukhari, different hotels and resorts will be constructed around the Attock fort for encouraging the tourists to visit the place, also tourist facilities like lodging and boarding will be made available at the site. 

He added that due to the proximity of Attock Fort with major cities like Islamabad, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi, the historical fort can be the source of attraction for residents of these cities and it can be a stop by option for domestic travelers.

وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی برائے سیاحت اور بیرون ملک مقیم سید ذوالفقار بخاری نے اٹک فورٹ سے متعلق منصوبہ بندی کو حتمی شکل دینے کے لئے ورلڈ بینک ، مقامی انتظامیہ ، اور محکمہ آثار قدیمہ اور سیاحت کے محکموں کے بعض عہدیداروں کے ساتھ اٹک فورٹ کا دورہ کیا۔

یہ فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے کہ اس منصوبے میں اٹک فورٹ سمیت صوبے کے چھ مختلف سیاحتی مقامات پر بنیادی ڈھانچے میں بہتری لائی جائے گی۔
یہ تاریخی قلعہ ، اٹک فورٹ ، دریائے سندھ کے کنارے تعمیر کیا گیا ہے لیکن اسے کبھی بھی سیاحتی مقام کے طور پر استعمال نہیں کیا گیا ، حالانکہ یہ اسٹریٹجک مقاصد کے لئے ایک اہم مقام ہے۔ جبکہ پہلی بار ، اب اٹک فورٹ عوام کے لئے کھلا ہوگا۔

مسٹر بخاری کے مطابق ، اٹک قلعے کے آس پاس مختلف ہوٹلوں اور ریزورٹس تعمیر کیے جائیں گے تاکہ سیاحوں کو اس مقام کی سیر کرنے کے لئے حوصلہ افزائی کیا جاسکے ، اسی طرح سیاحتی سہولیات بھی جگہ پر دستیاب ہوں گی۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اسلام آباد ، پشاور ، اور راولپنڈی جیسے بڑے شہروں کے ساتھ اٹک فورٹ کی قربت کی وجہ سے تاریخی قلعہ ان شہروں کے رہائشیوں کی توجہ کا مرکز بن سکتا ہے اور یہ گھریلو مسافروں کے لئے انتخابی راستہ بن سکتا ہے۔
