Balochistan, Federal sign MoU for Gwadar Shipyard Project

The MoU signing took place at the Chief Minister’s secretariat in Quetta. While addressing the MoU signing ceremony, the Minister for Defense Production, Zubaida Jalal said that the shipyard was owned by the provincial government but is being acquired by the federal government under equity.

Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal said that both the governments are on the same page and are working together for the socio-economic welfare of Balochistan. “The construction of a shipyard in Gwadar has helped the youth. Along with employment, the country’s economy will also benefit,” Jam Kamal said.

In this project, the priority would be given to local people and the shipyard would be completed in five to seven years. The government has also decided to sell the land of the province on the basis of partnership, said the CM.

Speaking at the ceremony, the federal minister said that the capacity of Gwadar Shipyard would be much greater than Karachi Shipyard, which would be significant for improvement in the economy of Balochistan.

مفاہمت نامہ پر دستخط کوئٹہ میں وزیر اعلی کے سیکرٹریٹ میں ہوئے۔ ایم او یو پر دستخط کرنے کی تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وزیر دفاعی پیداوار زبیدہ جلال کا کہنا تھا کہ شپ یارڈ صوبائی حکومت کی ملکیت ہے لیکن ایکوئٹی کے تحت وفاقی حکومت اسے حاصل کررہی ہے۔
وزیراعلیٰ بلوچستان جام کمال نے کہا کہ دونوں حکومتیں ایک ہی صفحے پر ہیں اور بلوچستان کی سماجی و معاشی بہبود کے لئے مل کر کام کر رہی ہیں۔ “گوادر میں شپ یارڈ بنانے سے نوجوانوں کو مدد ملی۔ روزگار کے ساتھ ساتھ ملک کی معیشت کو بھی فائدہ ہوگا۔
اس منصوبے میں مقامی لوگوں کو ترجیح دی جائے گی اور شپ یارڈ پانچ سے سات سال میں مکمل ہوگا۔ وزیراعلیٰ نے کہا کہ حکومت نے شراکت کی بنیاد پر صوبے کی اراضی فروخت کرنے کا بھی فیصلہ کیا ہے۔
تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وفاقی وزیر نے کہا کہ گوادر شپ یارڈ کی گنجائش کراچی شپ یارڈ سے کہیں زیادہ ہوگی جو بلوچستان کی معیشت میں بہتری کے لئے اہم ہوگی۔
