Railways has halted work on new U-turn on Sharea Faisal: Murtaza Wahab

The Sindh government has said the Pakistan Railways has raised an objection to its plan to build a new U-turn on Sharea Faisal to facilitate the motorists using one of the busiest arteries of Karachi.

In a statement issued on Friday, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who also acts as a spokesman for the Sindh government, said the Railways had halted further progress on the project to build a U-turn beneath the Natha Khan Bridge.

He said the Pakistan Railways had unduly raised an objection to the construction of the U-turn which would benefit a large number of motorists. Barrister Wahab, in his capacity as the city’s administrator, has been supervising the construction of the U-turn on behalf of the Sindh government.

He said the Railways had objected to the construction of the U-turn when carpeting had been started to complete the new civic project whose work had been in full swing.

He said the construction of the U-turn would facilitate the residents of Shah Faisal Colony and nearby localities, who used Sharea Faisal on a daily basis. Barrister Wahab said thousands of vehicles used Share Faisal every day, and the presence of the proposed U-turn had become necessary.

“We are constructing the U-turn without affecting the railway line crossing beneath the Natha Khan Bridge, and the Railways administration should lend support to us in this regard to facilitate the motorists,” he said.

کراچی: مرتضیٰ وہاب کا کہنا ہے کہ پاکستان ریلوے شارع فیصل پر نئے یو ٹرن کی تعمیر پر اعتراض کر رہا ہے۔

سندھ حکومت نے کہا ہے کہ پاکستان ریلوے نے شارع فیصل پر نیا یو ٹرن بنانے کے اپنے منصوبے پر اعتراض اٹھایا ہے تاکہ کراچی کی مصروف ترین شریانوں میں سے ایک کا استعمال کرتے ہوئے موٹر سواروں کو سہولت فراہم کی جا سکے۔

جمعہ کو جاری کردہ ایک بیان میں ، کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر بیرسٹر مرتضی وہاب ، جو سندھ حکومت کے ترجمان کے طور پر بھی کام کرتے ہیں ، نے کہا کہ ریلوے نے ناتھا خان پل کے نیچے یو ٹرن بنانے کے منصوبے پر مزید پیش رفت روک دی ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان ریلوے نے غیر ضروری طور پر یو ٹرن کی تعمیر پر اعتراض اٹھایا تھا جس سے بڑی تعداد میں موٹر سواروں کو فائدہ ہوگا۔ بیرسٹر وہاب ، شہر کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر کی حیثیت سے ، سندھ حکومت کی جانب سے یو ٹرن کی تعمیر کی نگرانی کرتے رہے ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ریلوے نے یو ٹرن کی تعمیر پر اعتراض کیا تھا جب نئے شہری منصوبے کو مکمل کرنے کے لیے قالین سازی شروع کی گئی تھی جس کا کام زوروں پر تھا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ یو ٹرن کی تعمیر سے شاہ فیصل کالونی اور قریبی علاقوں کے رہائشیوں کو سہولت ملے گی ، جو روزانہ کی بنیاد پر شارع فیصل استعمال کرتے ہیں۔ بیرسٹر وہاب نے کہا کہ ہزاروں گاڑیاں ہر روز شارع فیصل استعمال کرتی ہیں ، اور مجوزہ یو ٹرن کی موجودگی ضروری ہو گئی ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا ، "ہم ناتھا خان پل کے نیچے ریلوے لائن کراسنگ کو متاثر کیے بغیر یو ٹرن تعمیر کر رہے ہیں ، اور ریلوے انتظامیہ کو اس سلسلے میں موٹرسائیکلوں کی سہولت کے لیے ہماری مدد کرنی چاہیے۔"
