Pakistan Set to Reopen Jain temple

The temple stood tall at a famous junction in Lahore named the Jain Mandir intersection. After the demolition of the Babri Mosque on Dec. 6, 1992, in India, a mob two days later attacked the temple and damaged the building.

According to the media reports, more than 150,000 people were present at the temple in Ayodhya to listen to leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), India’s right-wing political party.

After speeches, the crowd stormed the Babri mosque which was built in the 15th century. The huge building was destroyed in a matter of hours.

Uprisings broke out in India afterward with 23 mosques smashed and destroyed and almost 2,000 people were killed in this incident.

As a result, almost 30 Hindu temples in Pakistan were damaged by mobs and spotted on roads were crowded protesting for the Babri mosque destruction.

Now, after nearly 30 years, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has given an order authored by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed that an official has been directed to examine the site of the Jain and Neela Gumbad (Blue Tomb) temples and take steps for their restoration and rehabilitation. According to the order, the work should be done deprived of delay and a preliminary report should be filed within one month.

According to the news sources, Ramesh Kumar Vankwanil, a National Assembly member, who is also a member of a commission of the Supreme Court regarding minority rights, told Anadolu Agency: “I have visited the site on Dec. 2 and also appeared in the court regarding this.”

“Pakistan is following its own Constitution in which all religions have the right to practice their faith. I am feeling pleased that we are setting examples for others,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has started work at the temple. Chairman Aamer Ahmed directed officials to present the estimation of the project and duration as soon as possible.

According to an official on condition of secrecy because he is not authorized to talk to the media. “We are almost done with the approximation and all the paperwork has almost been done. From next week the machinery will be on-site and the work will start in phases,” “In the first phase, the dome which is lying on the ground will be picked up with the cranes and then we will move toward the construction of the temple’’

مندر لاہور کے ایک مشہور موڑ پر کھڑا تھا جس کا نام جین مندر چوراہے تھا۔ بھارت میں 6 دسمبر 1992 کو بابری مسجد کے انہدام کے بعد دو دن بعد ایک ہجوم نے مندر پر حملہ کیا اور عمارت کو نقصان پہنچایا۔
میڈیا رپورٹس کے مطابق ایودھیا کے مندر میں بھارت کی سیاسی جماعت بھارتیہ جنتا پارٹی (بی جے پی) کے رہنماؤں کو سننے کے لیے 150,000 سے زائد لوگ موجود تھے۔
تقریروں کے بعد ہجوم نے بابری مسجد پر دھاوا بول دیا جو 15ویں صدی میں بنی تھی۔ بڑی عمارت چند ہی گھنٹوں میں تباہ ہو گئی۔
اس کے بعد ہندوستان میں بغاوت پھوٹ پڑی جس میں 23 مساجد کو توڑ پھوڑ اور تباہ کردیا گیا اور اس واقعے میں تقریباً 2000 لوگ مارے گئے۔
اس کے نتیجے میں، پاکستان میں تقریباً 30 ہندو مندروں کو ہجوم نے نقصان پہنچایا اور سڑکوں پر بابری مسجد کی تباہی کے خلاف احتجاج کرنے والے ہجوم کو دیکھا گیا۔
اب، تقریباً 30 سال بعد، سپریم کورٹ آف پاکستان نے چیف جسٹس گلزار احمد کی طرف سے تحریر کردہ ایک حکم نامہ جاری کیا ہے جس میں ایک اہلکار کو ہدایت کی گئی ہے کہ وہ جین اور نیلا گمبڈ (بلیو ٹومب) مندروں کی جگہ کا معائنہ کرے اور ان کی بحالی کے لیے اقدامات کرے۔ بحالی حکم نامے کے مطابق کام کو تاخیر سے مکمل کیا جائے اور ایک ماہ میں ابتدائی رپورٹ پیش کی جائے۔
خبر کے ذرائع کے مطابق، رمیش کمار وینکوانیل، قومی اسمبلی کے رکن، جو اقلیتوں کے حقوق کے حوالے سے سپریم کورٹ کے ایک کمیشن کے رکن بھی ہیں، نے انادولو ایجنسی کو بتایا: "میں نے 2 دسمبر کو سائٹ کا دورہ کیا اور اس بارے میں عدالت میں بھی پیش ہوا۔۔"
پاکستان اپنے آئین پر عمل پیرا ہے جس میں تمام مذاہب کو اپنے عقیدے پر عمل کرنے کا حق حاصل ہے۔ مجھے خوشی ہو رہی ہے کہ ہم دوسروں کے لیے مثالیں قائم کر رہے ہیں،‘‘ انہوں نے مزید کہا۔
دریں اثنا، (ای ٹی پی بی) نے مندر میں کام شروع کر دیا ہے۔ چیئرمین عامر احمد نے عہدیداروں کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ جلد از جلد منصوبے اور مدت کا تخمینہ پیش کریں۔
ایک اہلکار کے مطابق رازداری کی شرط پر کیونکہ وہ میڈیا سے بات کرنے کا مجاز نہیں ہے۔ " تمام کاغذی کارروائی تقریباًمکمل ہو چکی ہے۔ اگلے ہفتے سے مشینری سائٹ پر آ جائے گی اور مرحلہ وار کام شروع ہو جائے گا، “پہلے مرحلے میں جو گنبد زمین پر پڑا ہے اسے کرینوں کے ذریعے اٹھایا جائے گا اور پھرمندر کی تعمیر کی طرف بڑھیں گے۔ ''
