Mangroves forests safes coastal stripes from disasters

Speakers in the seminar have said that the Mangrove forests are growing in the Indus Delta there were 86,000 hectares, in 2005 and now in 2021 that have reached one lakh 39 thousand hectares.

The role of the Sindh Forest Department, WWF Pakistan, IUCN Pakistan, and the local population is very important in the proximity of mangrove forests.

They said this while addressing seminar organized WWF Pakistan to mark International Day of Protection of mangrove Forests at Makli Gymkhana.

Addressing the ceremony, Saeedul Islam, Manager Mangroves Conservation Project, WWF Pakistan, said that mangroves forests protect coastal stripes from natural disasters, especially sea storms, major tides, floods, and ground cover.

He said that these trees absorb toxic gases from the atmosphere, and also improve water quality.

سیمینار میں مقررین نے کہا ہے کہ مینگروو کے جنگلات انڈس ڈیلٹا میں بڑھ رہے ہیں ، 2005 میں 86000 ہیکٹر تھے اور اب 2021 میں جو ایک لاکھ 39 ہزار ہیکٹر پر پہنچ چکے ہیں۔

محکمہ جنگلات سندھ ، ڈبلیو ڈبلیو ایف پاکستان ، آئی یو سی این پاکستان اور مقامی آبادی کا کردار مینگروو کے جنگلات کی قربت میں بہت اہم ہے۔

ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوں نے مکلی جم خانہ میں مینگروو فاریسٹس کے تحفظ کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر ڈبلیو ڈبلیو ایف پاکستان کے زیر اہتمام سیمینار سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا۔

تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے ڈبلیو ڈبلیو ایف پاکستان کے منیجر منروز کنزرویشن پروجیکٹ سعید الاسلام نے کہا کہ مینگروز کے جنگلات ساحلی پٹیوں کو قدرتی آفات سے بچاتے ہیں ، خاص طور پر سمندری طوفان ، بڑے جوار ، سیلاب اور زمینی احاطہ۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ درخت ماحول سے زہریلی گیسیں جذب کرتے ہیں اور پانی کے معیار کو بھی بہتر بناتے ہیں۔
