Lahore Waste Management Company said that special measures have been taken to control the clogging and stop the overflowing of city drains even before the onset of rains.
According to a statement issued here on Friday, the spokesperson for LWMC said that the company has started the process of installing waste collector containers along the city drains to dispose of garbage and 20 containers have been placed around Kharak Drain near Sabzazar.
CEO LWMC Imran Ali Sultan stated that the department was all up and alert to provide cleanliness facilities in every situation. The major issue of clogging near drains was illegal dumping of waste in drains which needs to be stopped, he said adding the main objective of placing containers was to avoid littering.
CEO LWMC also said that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. Citizens should also cooperate with the department and reduce the amount of waste, he maintained.
A spokesperson said that without the cooperation of the public, LWMC alone cannot maintain cleanliness in the city. Citizens should also play their due role towards maintaining cleanliness in the city. He added that the citizens can dial LWMC helpline 1139 for registering their waste-related complaints.

جمعہ کو یہاں جاری ایک بیان کے مطابق ، ایل ڈبلیو ایم سی کے ترجمان نے بتایا کہ کمپنی نے شہر کے نالیوں کے ساتھ کچرے کو ٹھکانے لگانے کے لئے کچرے کے ذخیرے کرنے والے کنٹینرز لگانے کا عمل شروع کیا ہے اور 20 کنٹینرز سبزہ زار کے قریب کھڑک ڈرین کے آس پاس رکھے گئے ہیں۔
سی ای او ایل ڈبلیو ایم سی عمران علی سلطان نے بتایا کہ محکمہ ہر حالت میں صفائی ستھرائی کی سہولیات کی فراہمی کے لئے پوری طرح تیار ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نالیوں کے قریب پھنس جانے کا سب سے بڑا مسئلہ نالیوں میں کچرے کو غیر قانونی طور پر پھینکنا تھا ، جس کو روکنے کی ضرورت ہے ، انہوں نے کہا کہ کنٹینرز رکھنے کا بنیادی مقصد کچرے سے بچنا تھا۔
سی ای او ایل ڈبلیو ایم سی نے یہ بھی کہا کہ اس ضمن میں کسی بھی قسم کی کوتاہی برداشت نہیں کی جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ شہریوں کو بھی محکمہ کے ساتھ تعاون کرنا چاہئے اور فضلہ کی مقدار کو کم کرنا چاہئے۔
ترجمان نے کہا کہ عوام کے تعاون کے بغیر صرف ایل ڈبلیو ایم سی ہی شہر میں صفائی برقرار نہیں رکھ سکتا۔ شہریوں کو بھی شہر میں صفائی ستھرائی برقرار رکھنے کے لئے اپنا بھرپور کردار ادا کرنا چاہئے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ شہری اپنی فضلہ سے متعلق شکایات کے اندراج کے لئے ایل ڈبلیو ایم سی ہیلپ لائن 1139 پر ڈائل کرسکتے ہیں۔
