Divisional commissioners ordered to take immediate action against canal water theft

The CS Punjab issued directions while addressing a video link meeting which was attended by all the members of the concerned parties. Commissioners of all divisions of Punjab were also present in the meeting.

He expressed in the meeting that the province had been facing a shortage of water which could be made worse due to the water theft. He directed the commissioners to take strict action against the theft by getting cases registered against them.

Briefing on the occasion, ACS south Punjab Saqib Zafar said that committees have been formed in the districts of South Punjab to prevent water theft. Monitoring of the canals has also been initiated.

وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب نے ویڈیو لنک اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے ہدایات جاری کیں جس میں تمام متعلقہ جماعتوں کے اراکین نے شرکت کی۔ اجلاس میں پنجاب کے تمام ڈویژنز کے کمشنرز بھی موجود تھے۔
انہوں نے اجلاس میں اظہار خیال کیا کہ صوبے کو پانی کی قلت کا سامنا ہے جو پانی کی چوری کی وجہ سے مزید سنگین ہو سکتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کمشنرز کو ہدایت کی کہ چوری کرنے والوں کے خلاف مقدمات درج کر کے سخت کارروائی کی جائے۔
اس موقع پر اے سی ایس جنوبی پنجاب ثاقب ظفر نے بریفنگ دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ جنوبی پنجاب کے اضلاع میں پانی چوری کی روک تھام کے لیے کمیٹیاں تشکیل دے دی گئی ہیں۔ نہروں کی مانیٹرنگ بھی شروع کر دی گئی ہے۔
