Central Business District to generate revenue of Rs. 1,500b

The establishment of the first-ever Central Business District (CBD) in Lahore would generate revenue of 1,500 billion rupees and create 250,000 jobs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill said.

The project would cover an area of 1,600 kanals and it is being launched without relying on any loan, he said while addressing a presser along with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) Imran Amin.

Under this project, the auction of five plots generated an income of Rs 21.58 billion, he said. "In the past, prime state land in Lahore was auctioned at only Rs 100 million per Kanal, compared to Rs 420 million per Kanal auctioned by this government," he said.

Up to five international companies participated in the bidding process, Gill said, adding that the development work on CBD had already started. Like Lahore, the CBDs would be set up in Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi, he apprised. The infrastructure for the CBD in Lahore would be developed in a year, Gill added.

"There has been the unbridled and unplanned expansion of cities across the country that has created enormous problems. The new policy would take care of all these issues," the PM's aide said.

The federal government, he said, is working on a comprehensive policy regarding the construction sector, the SAPM said, adding that the government already took significant steps to incentivize the housing and construction sectors.

وزیراعظم کے معاون خصوصی برائے سیاسی مواصلات ڈاکٹر شہباز گل نے کہا کہ لاہور میں پہلے سنٹرل بزنس ڈسٹرکٹ (CBD) کے قیام سے 1500 ارب روپے کی آمدنی ہوگی اور 250،000 نوکریاں پیدا ہوں گی۔

انہوں نے چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر (سی ای او) راوی اربن ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (روڈا) عمران امین کے ہمراہ پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ منصوبہ 1،600 کنال کے رقبے پر محیط ہوگا اور اسے بغیر کسی قرض کے انحصار کیے شروع کیا جارہا ہے۔

اس منصوبے کے تحت پانچ پلاٹوں کی نیلامی سے 21.58 ارب روپے کی آمدنی ہوئی۔ انہوں نے کہا ، "ماضی میں ، لاہور میں پرائم اسٹیٹ زمین صرف 100 ملین روپے فی کنال نیلام کی گئی تھی ، جبکہ اس حکومت نے 420 ملین روپے فی کنال نیلام کی تھی۔"

بِلنگ کے عمل میں پانچ بین الاقوامی کمپنیوں نے حصہ لیا ، گل نے مزید کہا کہ سی بی ڈی پر ترقیاتی کام شروع ہو چکا ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ لاہور کی طرح فیصل آباد ، ملتان اور راولپنڈی میں سی بی ڈی قائم کیے جائیں گے۔ گل نے مزید کہا کہ لاہور میں سی بی ڈی کے لیے بنیادی ڈھانچہ ایک سال میں تیار کیا جائے گا۔
وزیر اعظم کے معاون نے کہا ، "ملک بھر میں شہروں کی بے لگام اور غیر منصوبہ بند توسیع ہوئی ہے جس نے بہت زیادہ مسائل پیدا کیے ہیں۔ نئی پالیسی ان تمام مسائل کا خیال رکھے گی۔"

انہوں نے کہا کہ وفاقی حکومت تعمیراتی شعبے کے حوالے سے ایک جامع پالیسی پر کام کر رہی ہے۔
