CDA to launch Metro Bus Service for New Islamabad International Airport by March 2022

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has engaged Consultants to design the missing facilities for Metro Bus Service to New Islamabad International Airport which will be made operational by CDA in the first quarter of 2022.

The procurement of buses and construction of the Command-and-Control Centre will be ensured in the next four months and the Metro Bus service will be made operational by CDA in the first quarter of 2022, the official source told this agency.

He said that CDA has also planned to construct a bus depot worth Rs800 million at Peshawar Morr where buses the CDA plans to run on different routes in the future would be parked.

The idea to use one depot for all buses is aimed at avoiding investing again and again on different depots, he added. Besides establishing a traffic control room, a smart traffic management system will be introduced to check violations of traffic rules and even overloading by local transports.

Directions have been also issued to procure pre-engineered structures and steel frames so that the depot and control center is completed in the next four months.

He said a few months ago, the National Highway Authority (NHSA) had handed over the Peshawar Morr for the metro bus project to the civic agency. After the approval of PC-1, the source said that the process has been started to procure 45 buses which will be run on the route.

He said that infrastructure works on the Metro Bus Service to New Islamabad International Airport have been executed by the National Highway Authority.

However certain essential items/equipment such as Ticketing System, Security Surveillance System, ITS, Command & Control Centre, Bus Depot with ancillaries, etc. have not been undertaken by NHA but are required to operationalize the system.

کیپٹل ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (سی ڈی اے) نے کنسلٹنٹس کو نیو اسلام آباد انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ تک میٹرو بس سروس کے لیے غائب سہولیات کو ڈیزائن کرنے کے لیے مصروف کیا ہے جسے سی ڈی اے 2022 کی پہلی سہ ماہی میں آپریشنل کر دے گا۔

سرکاری ذریعے نے اس ایجنسی کو بتایا کہ بسوں کی خریداری اور کمانڈ اینڈ کنٹرول سینٹر کی تعمیر کو اگلے چار ماہ میں یقینی بنایا جائے گا اور میٹرو بس سروس کو سی ڈی اے 2022 کی پہلی سہ ماہی میں آپریشنل کر دے گا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ سی ڈی اے نے پشاور موڑ پر 800 ملین روپے کی لاگت سے ایک بس ڈپو بنانے کا بھی منصوبہ بنایا ہے جہاں سی ڈی اے کی جانب سے مستقبل میں مختلف روٹس پر چلنے والی بسیں کھڑی کی جائیں گی۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ تمام بسوں کے لیے ایک ڈپو استعمال کرنے کے خیال کا مقصد مختلف ڈپووں پر بار بار سرمایہ کاری سے گریز کرنا ہے۔ ٹریفک کنٹرول روم کے قیام کے ساتھ ساتھ ایک سمارٹ ٹریفک مینجمنٹ سسٹم متعارف کرایا جائے گا جس سے ٹریفک قوانین کی خلاف ورزی اور مقامی ٹرانسپورٹ کی جانب سے اوور لوڈنگ کو بھی روکا جا سکے گا۔

پری انجینئرڈ سٹرکچر اور سٹیل فریم کی خریداری کے لیے بھی ہدایات جاری کی گئی ہیں تاکہ ڈپو اور کنٹرول سنٹر کو اگلے چار ماہ میں مکمل کر لیا جائے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ چند ماہ قبل نیشنل ہائی وے اتھارٹی (NHSA) نے میٹرو بس منصوبے کے لیے پشاور موڑ کو شہری ایجنسی کے حوالے کیا تھا۔ پی سی ون کی منظوری کے بعد ذرائع نے بتایا کہ 45 بسوں کی خریداری کا عمل شروع کر دیا گیا ہے جو روٹ پر چلائی جائیں گی۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ نیشنل ہائی وے اتھارٹی کی جانب سے میٹرو بس سروس سے نیو اسلام آباد انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ تک انفراسٹرکچر کا کام مکمل کیا گیا ہے۔

تاہم کچھ ضروری اشیاء/سامان جیسے کہ ٹکٹنگ سسٹم، سیکورٹی سرویلنس سسٹم، آئی ٹی ایس، کمانڈ اینڈ کنٹرول سینٹر، بس ڈپو بمعہ ذیلی سامان وغیرہ این ایچ اے کی طرف سے نہیں کیے گئے ہیں لیکن سسٹم کو چلانے کے لیے ضروری ہیں۔
