Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has resumed construction activities amid smart lock-down, as reported by the news sources.
According to the CDA spokesman, the construction activities for arch type overhead bridge spanning over Constitution Avenue in front of the Pak-Secretariat have resumed on Sunday.
The construction work of the 50-meter bridge has been awarded to Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) with a cost of a PKR 39 million. The manufacturing of steel had started by HMC which was stopped due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown. However, since the announcement of the smart lockdown by the Government of Pakistan, CDA has decided to resume the construction activities that were stopped.
CDA is also ensuring that the precautionary measures are adopted against the novel virus on all the construction sites. The pedestrian bridge is the first to start and shall be completed within one month. The structure of the bridge has been fabricated at HMC's workshop and it is ready for installation once the foundation is laid.
