8Bn allocated for 19 current development projects in Karachi

In his budget speech on Tuesday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the government undertook mega projects in Karachi during the last three years for infrastructure development and rehabilitation.

He explained that 40 such projects at a total cost of Rs28 billion were initiated, of which 20 projects were completed by last year and another 20 were being completed during the current financial year.

The CM added that in addition to such projects, the Sindh government invested in other major infrastructure projects for the city through public-private partnerships. Such projects included a 12-kilometer-long dual carriageway from Korangi Creek Causeway to the PAF Airmen Golf Club, and an expressway from Mauripur to Y- Junction, which is an eight-kilometer-long dual carriageway connecting the Lyari Expressway ramp on Mauripur Road to Y-junction of Kakapir Road

Another such project is the interchange at ICI Bridge, which is a 3.06-kilometer-long road starting from 0.3 kilometers north of the ICI Bridge intersection with Mauripur Road and making an elevated right turn to merge with ICI Bridge to reduce heavy traffic pressure from the city. According to the budget document, Rs95.9 million has been allocated for the construction of a U-Turn on the Natha Khan Bridge to be completed by June 2022. Last year, Rs143.9 million was allocated for the project with June 2021 as its targeted date of completion.

The new schemes include the construction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan from the Abdullah College to Qalandaria Chowk at an estimated cost of Rs1.1 billion, construction of the road connecting Sher Shah Chowk with Mirza Adam Khan Road intersection in District West at an estimated cost of Rs370 million, construction of the road from Gulberg Chowrangi to the UBL Complex at an estimated cost of Rs450 million, construction of a flyover at Jauhar Chowrangi at an estimated cost of Rs627 million, rehabilitation of roads to approach the Lyari Expressway at an estimated cost of Rs200 million, and rehabilitation of internal roads and streets surrounding Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital at an estimated cost of Rs261 million and other projects.

منگل کو اپنے بجٹ تقریر میں ، وزیر اعلی سید مراد علی شاہ نے کہا کہ حکومت نے انفراسٹرکچر کی ترقی اور بحالی کے لئے پچھلے تین سالوں کے دوران کراچی میں میگا پراجیکٹس شروع کیے۔

انہوں نے وضاحت کی کہ مجموعی طور پر 28 ارب روپے کی لاگت سے 40 ایسے منصوبے شروع کیے گئے تھے ، جن میں سے 20 منصوبے گذشتہ سال تک مکمل ہوچکے ہیں اور رواں مالی سال کے دوران مزید 20 منصوبے مکمل کیے جارہے ہیں۔

وزیراعلیٰ نے مزید کہا کہ اس طرح کے منصوبوں کے علاوہ ، حکومت سندھ نے پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ کے ذریعے شہر کے لئے دیگر بڑے انفراسٹرکچر منصوبوں میں بھی سرمایہ کاری کی ہے۔ اس طرح کے منصوبوں میں کورنگی کریک کاز وے سے پی اے ایف ائیرمین گالف کلب تک 12 کلو میٹر لمبی دوہری کیری وے ، اور موری پور سے وائی - جنکشن تک ایک ایکسپریس وے شامل ہے ، جو موری پور روڈ پر لیاری ایکسپریس وے ریمپ کو جوڑنے والا آٹھ کلومیٹر لمبی ڈبل کیری وے ہے۔
اسی طرح کا ایک اور منصوبہ آئی سی آئی برج پر انٹرچینج ہے جو 3.06 کلومیٹر لمبی سڑک ہے جو ماری پور روڈ کے ساتھ آئی سی آئی برج چوراہے کے شمال میں 0.3 کلومیٹر شمال سے شروع ہوتی ہے اور آئی سی آئی برج میں ضم ہونے کے لئے ایک دائیں مڑ کا راستہ بناتی ہے جس سے ٹریفک کے دباؤ کو کم کیا جاسکتا ہے۔ شہر بجٹ دستاویز کے مطابق ناتھا خان پل پر جون 2022 تک مکمل ہونے والے یو ٹرن کی تعمیر کے لئے 95.9 ملین روپے مختص کیے گئے ہیں۔ گذشتہ سال اس منصوبے کے لئے جون 2021 کو 143.9 ملین روپے مختص کیے گئے تھے ۔

نئی اسکیموں میں عبداللہ کالج سے قلندریا چوک تک ایک ارب ایک کروڑ روپے کی لاگت سے شاہراہ نور جہاں کی تعمیر ، ضلع مغرب میں شیر شاہ چوک کو مرزا آدم خان روڈ چوراہے سے ملانے والی سڑک کی تعمیر شامل ہے۔ 7070 Rs ملین کی لاگت ، گلبرگ چورنگی سے یو بی ایل کمپلیکس تک سڑک کی تعمیر کا تخمینہ 45050 ملین کی لاگت سے ، جوہر چورنگی میں 627 ملین روپے کی لاگت سے فلائی اوور کی تعمیر ، لیاری ایکسپریس وے تک جانے کے لئے سڑکوں کی بحالی 200 ملین روپے کی لاگت ، اور ڈاکٹر روتھ پفاؤ سول اسپتال کے آس پاس کی داخلی سڑکوں اور گلیوں کی بحالی جن کے تخمینے میں 261 ملین روپے لاگت آئے گی۔
